Getaria
The Google 2012 Model Your Town
Competition is over and the winner has been selected. This year, the
winner is the town of Getaria, Gipuzkoa, Spain.
The quality of the models created for this town has convinced the judges, which is anyone who voted, that this is the place most worthy of the first prize.
"The winning team is a dynamic duo: Josetxo Perez Fernandez, 36, is a professional who works in computer administration; and Pedro Domecq Aguirre, 45, is a programmer, 3D data specialist and network administrator," Google revealed.
You can check out their models in action in Google Earth, or the Maps Earth View, or go straight to the winning team's Google 3D warehouse collection.
The winners will get a celebration in their hometown in their honor hosted by Google but also a donation to a local school of their choice.
